Avatar file size limit

Can we increase the file size limit for the avatars? I can't seem to get mine below 6KB, maybe add a zero to that limit?

The following is not a complaint. It's just an example of how picky I am. I just spent over 2 hours trying to edit jpg and jpeg images to create an avatar for my profile. These were images from my own computer and images I downloaded from Google. Some of them didn't give me permission to edit. For most of them, however, I just wasn't able to edit them to a small enough size to meet the forum requirement. It's possible my inexperience with computers and image editing also contributed to my failure. For my avatar, I wanted to use a wolf, red fox or bear, but . . . . . I ended up editing a 1974 image of Arnold Schwarzenegger's face from a photo of him when he was in his best physical condition. In a way, I guess this image is kind of funny, but I want to change my avatar at some point in the future.
