Re: Finally, Yellowstone (and GT) in winter
Great report! Someday I want to go in the winter. Thanks for sharing. It sounds like you saw a lot of critters and Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in the snow must be gorgeous! You are so lucky to be able to go on a long weekend.

Re: Bison slams into rental car
We were in the area that day, but not at the time of the stampede. Saw a lot of stupidity. People running into the woods to get closer to a bull moose, abandoning the car to get closer to the bison-the usual. We were very careful knowing the bison were in there rut. Still, sometimes we ended up stuc...

Re: Photographing Elk in the fall
Just returned from YNP, GT, and RMNP! Not my favorite time of year, but we went when we could. In YNP saw a bull elk on the edge of the road ( too close for a picture except the iPhone), and a bull with his girls along the Madison 2 different times. RMNP saw a few. One bull hung out 2 different nigh...

Max-I hope you keep writing trip reports, although sanity and family come first. I honestly feel you should turn your trip reports into a book. Throw in some photography tips. I love your writing style and of course your gorgeous photos.

Re: Yellowstone Trip 6/3 - 6/8
Sorry about the problems with your campsite. Great photos! I hope to someday be able to see YNP in the late spring or fall. Better wildlife opportunities. For now I go when the kids are on summer vacation. Leave this Friday!

Re: Gear Question
I was interested to hear that the 100-400 worked for you since that is what I just bought. I thought the 600 would be too heavy and I am an amateur with family tagging along. So...not a lot of patience.

Re: Brief Estes Park trip pics
Great shots of the bull elk. RMNP will be at the tail end of our trip this year. I’ve never been and can’t wait.
