My experience is limited to only three fall trips, but October is superior to September for me. The trip we had in September was during a fire year, and smokey haze was in the air, not allowing many distant views. October brought fresh, crisp air with magnificent visibility. We visited Cave Falls June 4, 2014. That year the road was still somewhat rutted in areas, but we had no problems going slowly. The river was running high that year with spring runoff so we could not view the caves, but the very wide falls were impressive. I remember the ground being very mushy; the...
